Well, I've got just a few minutes to spare, and I finally got around to unpacking that Set List, so here goes. [I'll proofread later, when I have more time...]
Well, the first thing that happened, isn't on the Set List. Can't Wendy do anything right?!!
The show started with the curtain down and the screen down (which answers a question I asked in my "The Olive Story" post in the BCR category), showing a series of old radios and what not. Then, after a brief "technical difficulties" interruption, the screen showed countless photos of the BCR from "the day" -- the audiences, the teen mag covers, the concerts, publicity shots, album covers, etc. with a little ditty playing. Since it's not on the set list (Wendy!!), I don't know if it's "God Save the Bay City Rollers" or what (maybe Kyle or somebody else could tell us). Anyway, it was VERY clever and impressive. One of my favorite parts of the show.
Curtain rises, lads at the ready on stage launch right into "Rock N Roller" (lead alternating between Kyle, Joe, and Ian, except for Sunday night when it was just Kyle and Joe, since Ian couldn't be on stage). Marvelous, outstanding! One of my favorite parts of the show.
Kyle then announced a Special Delivery and went into "Rock N Roll Love Letter". Extraordinary vocals and amazing performance. One of my favorite parts of the show.
Next Kyle announced that they were missing a young lad who couldn't be there because he was under the weather. Joe said, though, that Ian wanted us to know that he "only wants to be with YOU!" Perfect lead-in to "Only Wanna Be With You" (Kyle, again, on lead vocals). Mind-boggling!! One of my favorite parts of the show.
Dreamy Kyle followed this one with his lead vocals on "Give a Little Love", in which he strolled through the audience and sang to unsuspecting young lasses. Spine-tingling! One of my favorite parts of the show.
The next one is one that Ian normally sings (this is when they brought out the Roller dummy replacement on Sunday to take his place, which didn't sing or play the guitar very well), so the last night, Joe took over the lead (Kyle claimed he had trouble remembering all the lyrics to this one; whether or not that's true, it passed the torch over to Joe). Oh, yeah, that song was called "Shang-a-Lang" and I haven't been able to get it out of my head all day. Astonishing and superb! You guessed it; one of my favorite parts of the show.
"Remember" is on the set list, though they didn't perform it on Friday or Saturday night. The did do it on Sunday night (Kyle on lead vocals). Magnificent! One of my favorite parts of Sunday night's show.
Then we get to what Kyle calls the "ugly" part of the show. He laments how the band members say he can't dance and so he pulls out two people from the audience to come up on stage and dance with him and show him how (but, they can't be TOO good, because they have to make HIM look good). This leads to "Keep on Dancin' " (which Kyle sings lead on). Before the last show, Wendy came up with the idea for us to storm the stage during this song, so she lead the way, followed by Steve, Zealia, Michelle, Karen, and myself. Kyle had no idea what was goin' on. Great song. Incredibly astounding! Another one I can't get out of my head, and another one of my favorite parts of the show.
Joe then took the lead vocals away from Kyle again for "Let's Go (Huggin' and a-Kissin' in the Moonlight -- oooooooh-aaaaaaaahh-ooooooooh)" (extended title). Unparalleled! I was singin' this one on my way home from the supermarket this afternoon. One of my favorite parts of the show.
I have to take a break here (and give you all a break from my going on and on). I'll be back later with the second half of the show....
