kv - this is my burning question on a grey Tuesday.  Do you ever spend time listening to your finished albums?  If not, you really should.  Today I'm listening to 'Trust' and thinking about how timeless it is.  Songs for every mood.  It really stands on it's own.  Now, let's hear some LIVE!!!!!!!  How about a 'Trust' tour???
e
p.s. - tomorrow I'll be asking for a 'Where You Are' tour, and the next day will be a 'Self-Titled' tour...  etc, etc.

OK, so one of my resolutions was to answer this question.

I rarely listen to my own albums. You have to understand that from the first idea, to the writing, through the recording process where I will play the same song, and the same 5 second snippets endlessly to sing or play a part just right, to the mixing and mastering, I will have heard each song at least a thousand times before you've heard it once. After all of that, I have to leave my children to appreciate them again at a later date.

And then one day, I'll be listening to my iPod on shuffle, and suddenly a track of mine from an old album comes on and I get to really appreciate not only the recording, but all that went into the birthing of the song. Sometimes I cringe at how dated it may sound, or how undeveloped my voice was, or how I wish I had had a bigger budget (the "Don't You Know" album is an example of that), but usually I pat myself on the back and appreciate it as an unbiased music lover. Sometimes it brings about a bout of depression because I think how good the song may be, and how it stinks that it didn't take off, but of course you have to get over those moments and move forward.

As for doing tours or shows based on particular albums, I like the idea, which is why I've been bringing out some oldies for the latest shows. I'll be doing more of that.

I'll go one step further--If someone would like to book a living room show based on one album, or even make up their own custom set list, I'm open to that possibility.

Thanks for the question, Erin.

OMG, e!  We can't have the talented Mr. V depressed over his own music.  The thought of it makes me cry.  If you decide to hostess a LRS in NKY/SW Ohio, I will back you up.  I think I am referring to the right person, by the way.  I emailed you a few times last year.  Just can't get enough together for a show on my own.  I can help you do whatever.  Think about it...
